What’s new

What has changed in Stori3D, newest first.

25 Oct 2026

  • Help centre: these articles, searchable, in Help → Help centre and on stori3d.com/help, with this list of what's new.
  • Map coordinates: put the project on a national map grid (MGA, the British National Grid, UTM and others), and IFC and DXF exports carry eastings and northings. See Map coordinates.
  • Files kept with a project: surveys, briefs, consultants' models and photos in Project → Files, for everyone who can open the project. See Files kept with a project.
  • IES and area lights, 360° panoramas: downlights can take a built-in beam or a manufacturer's IES file, ceiling panels light a room as area lights, and Export image… makes 360° panoramas that open as photo spheres. See Rendering.
  • Moving a finish's pattern: Move across and Move up shift a finish's texture on a surface, so tiles and boards start where you want them.
  • Invite-only links: a share link can open only for the email addresses you invite, and each person gets the link by email. See Sharing and review.
  • Present live: people on a share link can follow your view as you move round the model.
  • Section planes: save named section planes at any angle, place them on a face, and let saved views remember which one cuts. See Plans, sections and elevations.
  • Drafting and presenting on sheets: draw lines, shapes, text, leaders, revision clouds and symbols on sheets, on layers you can hide and lock; present the sheets full screen with a pen; and export sheets and the 3D model as DXF. See Sheets.
  • Product details: record the real product a door, window or piece of furniture is, read it from manufacturers' files, and list each product once in a Products schedule. See Schedules and custom properties.

23 Oct 2026

  • Styles and scenes: a Style panel for edge colours, depth cue, back edges, sketchy lines, fog and a watermark, with styles of your own; saved views now keep the whole style, and fast images export as TIFF, SVG or EPS. See Styles and scenes.
  • Ambient occlusion and profiles: soft contact shadows and thicker silhouette outlines, in the viewport and in fast images.
  • Match Photo: line the model up with a photo of the site and save it as a view that shows the photo over the model. See Site and sun.
  • Views on sheets keep their style: saved views on sheets are drawn with their own style and section cut, can be drawn at a true scale, and any drawing can use a custom 1:N scale.
  • Sun hours and daylight: map the hours of sun on the ground, roofs and windows for a day at the site, and check the daylight in each room.
  • More SketchUp tools: select and edit a solid's faces and edges, cut holes with Push/pull, measure and set angles with the Protractor, draw loose edges and freehand, sort tags into folders with the Tag tool, and stand reference pictures up in 3D.

22 Oct 2026

  • Room floors follow their walls: when you move a wall, the room's floor slab moves with it.

21 Oct 2026

  • Painting rooms: painting one room's walls no longer changes the room next door.

20 Oct 2026

  • Controls you already know: navigation, keyboard shortcuts, inference locks, the Measurements box and touch gestures now work like SketchUp's, and you can set your own shortcuts. See Navigating.
  • Share link previews: a share link pasted into a chat or email shows the project's name and a picture.
  • Right-click on a Mac: the browser's own menu no longer opens before Stori3D's.

18 Oct 2026

  • Cleaner realistic images: Denoise takes the grain out of realistic exports in browsers with WebGPU.
  • Villa Calma sample: a furnished family villa to explore, from File → Open furnished villa sample.
  • The sky stays put: the sky's picture no longer disappears when you move the sun.

17 Oct 2026

  • Stori3D originals: a set of our own furniture for bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, bathrooms and kitchens, free to use and export. See Furniture and library.
  • Parkside Apartments, furnished and lit: the apartments sample now has furniture and lighting.

16 Oct 2026

  • Curved walls and winders: draw walls as arcs, with doors, windows, rooms and plans following the curve, and turn L and U stairs on winders.
  • Contact support: send a request from Help → Contact support… and read the answers in the app or by email.
  • A loading bar: the app shows its progress while it starts.
  • More for AI agents: agents can do more of what you can do by hand. See AI agents.

15 Oct 2026

  • Scroll stories: share a tour as a page that opens on the floor plan, builds the building as visitors scroll and walks them through. See Tours, walking, VR and AR.
  • Car park and structure tools: grids, beams, parking bays, ramps and lifts, with the Parkside Apartments sample.
  • Style palettes: recolour every built-in piece of furniture in one step, in Warm modern, Scandi, Japandi, Industrial or Coastal.
  • A refined furniture set: one modern set with new pieces and finishes, and a library that shows modern pieces first, with other styles a click away.
  • People and cars: new scale figures in eight poses, and cars, a hatchback, a ute and a bicycle.
  • Steadier co-editing: edits made offline are kept and merged when you reconnect.

13 Oct 2026

  • Smoother tours: walkthrough tours turn smoothly at stops and tight bends.
  • Realistic interiors fixed: realistic images of interiors no longer come out black.

12 Oct 2026

  • Annotating drawings: add dimensions, text, leaders and tags to plans, elevations and sections, pinned to the elements they point at.
  • Practice title blocks: corner, strip or band layouts, your own boxes, sheet status, revisions and practice templates.
  • Modelling toolkit: arcs, Push/pull repeated with a double-click, typed angles and radial arrays in Rotate, Scale to a factor or length, and selection by rectangle.

10 Oct 2026

  • Tour videos: export a walkthrough tour as an MP4, from HD to 4K, square or upright.
  • Shadow study sheets: one click makes a sheet of the building's shadows on the equinox and solstices.
  • Trees, people and cars: trees, conifers, shrubs, hedges, people and cars to give sites and views scale.
  • Team library: share pieces from My library with your team.
  • Guide lines and points: guides at a typed distance from an edge, as SketchUp's Tape Measure makes them.

9 Oct 2026

  • Sheets and rendered images: lay out drawing sets with a title block and export them as one PDF, and export path-traced images at print size.
