Files kept with a project

Keep surveys, briefs, consultants' models and photos with a cloud project, for everyone who can open it.

A project often comes with files that aren't the model: the site survey, the client's brief, a structural engineer's IFC, photos of the site. You can keep them with the project, so everyone who opens it finds them in one place.

Where files live

Open the Project panel from the side rail. Files lists the project's files, newest first, with each one's size, who added it and when.

Files belong to cloud projects. If you're working in the browser without signing in, or the project isn't saved to the cloud yet, the section says so: sign in and save the project from Projects first. See Saving and projects.

In a team project, every member of the team sees the files and can add, rename and remove them. In your own projects, only you can.

Add files

  • Choose Add files… and pick one or more files, or
  • drag files from your computer and drop them on the Files section.

Any kind of file can go in, up to 100 MB each. A bar shows each upload's progress, and the file appears in the list once it's in.

Open, rename or remove a file

  • Click a file's name to open it in a new tab. PDFs, pictures and text open in the browser; other files download.
  • The pen button renames a file. Its contents don't change.
  • The bin button removes a file for everyone, after you confirm. It can't be brought back.

How much you can keep

Your files count against your space's storage: your own for personal projects, the team's for team projects. The line under the list shows how much is used. During early access each space can keep 5 GB. See Plans and support.

When you delete a project, its files go with it.

Moving a project

A project with files can't be moved between your own space and a team yet. Download the files you need, remove them, move the project, then add them again.

Files and the model

Keeping a file doesn't bring it into the model. To trace a survey or a plan, import it as an underlay; to bring in a consultant's model, import it. See Importing.
